Course Description:
Macroeconomics is about analyzing and forecasting economic developments at the national and international level. Related to this, it is often of great importance to quantify the effects of economic shocks and economic policy measures on macroeconomic variables, like GDP and employment. A crucial topic is therefore the identification and quantification of relationships between macroeconomic variables. The primary objective of this course is to provide an overview of methods suitable for this task. It is necessary to start with an introduction to the main macroeconomic models and the related data. However, the main focus is on the application of econometric methods.
