About us

Prof. Dr. Sven-Joachim Otto is an honorary professor of energy economics and energy law. Prof. Otto focuses on developments in the various energy markets, particularly against the backdrop of the ongoing transformations at the interfaces with the mobility/transport (transport transition), real estate (heating transition), and industry sectors. 

After almost twenty years with one of the Big Four accounting firms, Prof. Otto started his own firm, Energiesozietät GmbH, in 2023. He offers consulting services to energy supply companies, the federal government, states, municipalities, and their institutions and companies.  

His practical experience is incorporated into his courses, ensuring that his teaching is closely aligned with real-world applications.  

Team

The team consists of Prof. Dr. Sven-Joachim Otto, who has been a lecturer in energy economics and energy law at the faculty since 2015, and his research assistant Viktoria Panzram.

Teaching

The courses in the master's program are specifically aimed at students who want to deal with aspects of the energy industry, in particular the energy transition and the heat transition, but also infrastructure systems. Current political and legal issues are examined and practical relevance is established.
