Visiting Researcher Dr Frank Bohn - 6th May 2026

Professor Roos is pleased to announce that on Wednesday, May 6th (16:00 – 17:00, GD 03/512), we will host Dr. Frank Bohn, Associate Professor of International Economics / Radboud University Nijmegen at our research seminar.

Dr. Bohn will present his paper on “Political Cycles in Budget Composition”.

Mini-Abstract: “There is evidence in political budget cycles based on expansionary fiscal policies, but it relates mainly to developing countries. We find that political cycles in OECD economies are typically in changes in budget composition, mainly based on expansions of family benefits, even when measured in real terms. We suggest a model that captures a mechanism behind this finding.”

On Thursday morning (May 7th) Dr. Bohn will be available for one-to-one meetings with PhD candidates, thereby offering an excellent opportunity to discuss ongoing research or early-stage ideas. So, if you are interested in speaking to him, please let us know in advance. Feel free to forward this news to other colleagues or PhD candidates who may be interested in the seminar or in meeting Frank Bohn.
