Lecture Series „Upheaval“ – the Economy of the Future


A series of lectures organised by the Communications Department at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum in co-operation with Professor. Roos, holder of the Chair of Macroeconomics – lecturers include Professor Alavi, Professor Busse, Professor Paul and Professor Werding

Digitization, climate change, worldwide migration, demographic change and the reform of world politics – these are important issues which already influence our lives today. The series of lectures “Upheaval“ dares to look into the near future. What effect will these changes have on our lives in ten to fifteen years? By looking into the future we want to find answers for the present. How do we define a worthwhile life? Which political decisions ought to be made now?


The Economy of the Future

The economy shapes our lives in many ways and ensures our prosperity. Experts see the beginning of a fundamental change in the way we live, work and relate to one another. New digital production technologies have lead to the fourth Industrial Revolution. There is growing uncertainty about the future of the global economic order. Protectionism and trade wars could seriously impact the export nation Germany.
