Reappointment of Professor Dr. Christoph M. Schmidt to Council of Experts

At the proposal of the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Mr. Sigmar Gabriel, the German cabinet has approved the reappointment of Professor Dr. Christoph M. Schmidt to the “Council of Economic Experts” from 01.03.2015 until 29.02.2020.

Thank you for your interest in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Ruhr University Bochum. The following pages will provide useful information on research and academics at our faculty.

Our study programmes comprise over 20 professors and foreign partner universities who open their faculties to our students. The staff includes distinguished economists, such as the chairman of the German Council of Economic Experts, an academic body that advises German policy makers on questions of economic policy, and president of the Rhine-Westphalia Institute for Economic Research (RWI, Essen), Prof. Dr. Christoph M. Schmidt. The chair and staff of RWI, one of the five leading economic research institutes, are also members of our faculty. For business administration, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Pellens, vice president of the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft, is a faculty member. The Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft is a high-level dialogue forum that serves the finding of solutions to current economic problems in practice and policymaking, as well as exchange between research institutions and enterprises.
