We are delighted to discover your interest in our faculty, ranked among Germany’s top 10 faculties for economics in the renowned F.A.Z.-Ranking 2017. On the following pages you can find out all you need to know about teaching and research at the faculty. Our cube below will navigate you through our entire range of Bachelor and Master programs. You can access all information about each program by clicking on the respective square.

Having over 20 professors as well as partnerships with foreign universities, who have opened their faculties to our students, enables us to offer a variety of study courses. Our staff includes distinguished economists such as Prof. Dr. Christoph M. Schmidt, chairman of the German Council of Economic Experts, an academic body that advises German policy makers on questions of economic policy. He is also president of the RWI-Leibniz-Institute for Economic Research in Essen and has been ranked 13th most influential economist in Germany in the recent F.A.Z.-Ranking 2017. Other members of faculty include board members and staff of RWI, one of the five leading economic research institutes.

The management side of the faculty is represented by Prof. Dr. Bernhard Pellens, vice president of the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft, a high-level dialogue forum aimed at finding solutions to current problems in both economic practice and policy-making, as well as providing a scientific exchange between research institutes and businesses.

Teaching at our faculty is in line with the current state of research. It is not only application and professionally-oriented but also strongly practice-oriented. For example, by doing internships with companies, economic development agencies and other public institutions, students get the opportunity to address in a practical way scientific questions they are confronted with. At the Ruhr-Universität Bochum the Faculty of Management and Economics in tandem with the Faculty of Engineering have devoted themselves to the theme of business start-ups and corporate succession. A platform-based combination of economic knowledge with technical know-how aims to support students on their way to self-employment. The success of this concept is reflected in the recent CHE-Ranking 2017, in which our master study programs have been ranked among the best in Germany.

We wish you the best of success with your studies!

Prof. Dr. Stephan Paul (Vice Dean) and Prof. Dr. Michael Roos (Dean of Research)
