The admission of all Bachelor degree programs at the faculty of Management and Economics is restricted according to grade (so-called “Numerus Clausus”).
To get the admission, you need a higher education entrance qualification, for example your school leaving certificate or proof of studies already completed at secondary education level. To qualify for admission to Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB), you must be able to prove you possess the equivalent of the German Abitur qualification which is the examination taken at the end of your secondary education.

International applicants can find information related to admission and a database on the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) or Anabin websites. You will also be able to check whether your qualifications will be recognized as an HZB in Germany.

For all Bachelor degree programs you have to apply through Hochschulstart (EU-applicants) or the online application portal of the RUB (international applicants).

The application deadline for every winter semester is July 15th and January 15th for every summer semester.

Online application (international applicants):

After completing the application, you will receive a confirmation-Email and a fact sheet with your application number. Please print this sheet out and send it – together with the stated testimonies and language certificates - until the end of application period to the international Admission Office. Afterwards you can check your application status in the information portal. At the end of the admission process the admission notifications can be downloaded here.

For the best possible start, we recommend to participate in the pre-courses mathematics (start of study in winter semester) and financial accounting (start of study in summer semester). The pre-courses close with an exam where you can collect bonus points for the final exam of the respective modules “Mathematik für Ökonomen” and “Jahresabschluss”. The participation in pre-courses is optional. Information regarding the dates and venue can be found on our faculty website (News - Terms & Events).
